All of these positions are meant for individuals with previous experience in the medical field of several years, and in some cases the registered nurse status is mandatory. However requirements regarding education and experience may largely vary from company to company, you would have to find the requirements that suit your strengths the most.

fields is that of medical transcription. This is also a field of activity that is not only calmer and more relaxed then other medical positions, but also offers a very attractive compensation package. Doctors take a large number of notes every day, most of them in the shape of audio notes, which need to be transcribed, in order to have them in a neat clean form, an activity for which a doctor usually has no time to spare. This is where medical transcriptionists come in, transcribing funny looking handwriting or audio tapes into decent, maintainable documents. Such work is usually outsourced to transcription companies or independent home-based contractors, who carry out the transcription of medical content and send it back to the partner company that they received it from, in a much nicer format. Most times such transcriptionists are required to have an AAMT certification, but in some cases it is not mandatory, however considered to be a plus.
Another type of very popular job among medical jobs at home is that of Medical Coder. Medical coders need to make sure that the numerous codes on a patients chart are right, so that the treatments and services received by the patient are paid by the insurance company for the exact amount that needs to be billed, that there are no mix-ups or mistakes which may cause the patient, the hospital or the insurance company to suffer a loss. Basically a medical coder makes sure that the proper reimbursement is received by the right party. Medical coders are usually only hired based on experience, as well as if they are certified. There are different areas of specialty which they can be certified for, such as: CPC, RHIA, RHIT or CCS; certification must always meet requirements.
